The young drug thugs swagger-jacked the spirit of hip-hop and made it their own. With the boldness and brashness of a stateside Don Dada, the young hip-hop hustlers involved in the New York drug game during the Ronald Reagan years, set the tone for the lifestyles of the ghetto rich and famous. The lives and deaths of the notorious gangsters, plying their illicit trade, captivated the inner-city's imagination like none before them. They were the music video or Hollywood movie, and their film was going down live in the streets. The life and times of Alpo and Rich Porter have gone down in the chronicles of gangster lore in infamy. Everybody from the crack era in 1980's Harlem is either dead or in prison doing life. All the big names that were celebrated in Harlem have either been killed, served lengthy prison terms or been affected negatively by the drug game in some way.
